MY FOURTH SECRET 7" EXHIBITION

I have taken part in a number of Secret 7" exhibitions across London over the years. Secret 7” takes 7 tracks from 7 musicians and presses each one 100 times onto 7” vinyl. They then invite creatives from around the world to submit artwork for the vinyl sleeves. They then either sell those sleeves un-named in a sale at the gallery where you line up (sometimes overnight) to grab the ones you want when the door opens or as in recent years you can bid on them in an online auction. Either way you don't know whose sleeve you have until after the purchase. It may be a Paul Sith, a Yoko Ono, a Pure Evil, a Jon Burgerman or a complete unknown. All sales go to that years charity and so far they have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for good causes. This years cause is War Child.

last October the submission window opened with a January 2024 deadline. As I am focussing on my lino work I decided to enter lino prints along with a few other computer designed concepts just for fun. For the lino pieces the more I thought about the tracks the more I realised one image could link them all. The tracks were:

Aurora’s A Different Kind of Human

Celeste’s Stop This Flame

Hozier’s Swan Upon Leda

Siouxsie & The Banshees’s Lullaby

Paul McCartney’s Pipes of Peace

The Chemical Brothers’ Skipping Like a Stone

The Specials’ We Sell Hope

So I set myself a challenge. Submit a piece for each song using an image of the same item in different forms. 1 of the sleeves was physically printed and submitted in the post with the rest printed, digitalised and submitted online.

I have a feeling I know the 3 that have been selected but I wont know until I see the show in March. The show is open to the public between 2nd to 17th March at the NOW Gallery in Greenwich right next to the O2.

You can also bid on the works with Peggy this year. An account on Peggy is needed to participate in the auction.

I hope you get to the show or take a look online, its such a great cause.

Here a few images of the show over the years.
